Mayrhofen - March 2027

Hotel Elisabeth

March 13th - 20th 2027

The Snowcats embark on an exciting spring trip to Mayrhofen, Austria where we stay at the beautiful Hotel Elisabeth. The Snowcats have never skied in Mayrhofen, however our sister club the Summercatz have walked there, so we are extremely exited to explore the Zillertaler Valley of Tyrol.

Mayrhofen, Austria

Mayrhofen is situated near the Hintertux glacier, which, at 3,250m above sea level, is above the snowline making skiing available all year round. Despite its popularity, the town retains its working and cultural roots. The charming pedestrian center features a range of accommodation from luxury spa resorts to cozy guesthouses alongside high-end gear shops, local woodcarvers, and cozy cafes.

Mayrhofen is just as famous for its off-mountain culture as it is for its skiing. The village offers a classic Tyrolean ambiance with vibrant, energetic après-ski bars, open-air DJs, and excellent mountain huts serving hearty Austrian cuisine.

The Skiing

Mayrhofen is a premier Austrian ski destination in the Ziller Valley, featuring 142 kilometers of interconnected pistes across two main mountains, Penken and Ahorn. The Ahorn offers mainly easy and intermediate runs, but also has a long, steep black run (formerly red) which was once on the World Cup Downhill circuit. The Penken mountain offers Austria's steepest piste, named Harakiri, as well as a large range of ski runs across all difficulty levels. It is connected by lifts with the villages of Finkenberg, Lanersbach and Schwendau.

Encompassed within spectacular scenery under the gaze of the Penken and Ahorn mountains, one of the many advantages of the area is that it caters for all grades of skier and off the slopes has something for everybody to do.

Guided days will be offered to the more capable skiers on the holiday if conditions allow.
