La Plagne - January 2027

La Plagne

January 16th - 23rd 2027

The Snowcats celebrates their 60th Anniversary season with an exciting first holiday to La Plagne, France, where we stay in the Hotel L’Eden des Cimes.

La Plagne, Les Arcs and Peisey-Vallandry offer extensive piste skiing and some of the best off piste skiing across the Alps. Encompassed within spectacular scenery, including stunning views of Mont Blanc, one of the many advantages of the area is that it caters for all grades of skier and off the slopes has something for everybody to do.

La Plagne, France

Set high in the Tarantaise region of the French Alps, the combined slopes of La Plagne and Les Arcs create one of the largest ski areas in the world. Totaling over 425km of pistes, with untold acres of off piste to explore, the Paradiski is a prime ski area.

With lifts as high as 3250m and the guaranteed snow of the Varet and Bellecôte glaciers, good quality skiing is assured throughout the season. Intermediates will enjoy long, wide open runs navigated using a fast and efficient lift system which includes the impressive double decker Vanoise Express cable car providing a high-speed link between Les Arcs and La Plagne. There are no less than 17 villages to visit and tick off in a week's skiing!

La Plagne is an excellent destination for intermediate skiers, offering a vast network of well-groomed blue and red runs across its extensive ski area. Connected to Les Arcs as part of the Paradiski region, it provides plenty of opportunities to explore varied terrain while building confidence and technique. Intermediate skiers can enjoy long cruising runs, scenic tree-lined pistes, and wide-open slopes with stunning Alpine views. Popular areas such as Belle Plagne, Plagne Centre, and Champagny-en-Vanoise offer a great mix of challenging yet accessible runs. Efficient lift systems and reliable snow conditions make La Plagne a favourite among progressing skiers.

Advanced skiers have their pick of off piste and nature runs plus one of the longest runs in the Alps, a 7km challenging black (and red) run from the top of the Aiguille Rouge (3226m) Les Arcs, to Villaroger (1200m). Guided days will be offered to the more capable skiers on the holiday if conditions allow.

Ski Groups

Skiing in groups of about 5-8 people is an important aspect of Snowcat club skiing. We offer multiple groups of like-ability skiers to suit most standards, so providing your ability level is intermediate (see below note) through to expert, we can offer a well-matched group for you.

Winter Walkers and Other Activities

La Plagne, Les Arcs and Peisey-Vallandry offer some great adventures for our walking group and non-skiers.

There are some 57km of walking trails and most are easily accessible to any walker with a pair of boots, ice grippers and trekking poles. If the only way is up, pedestrian passes are available for many of the main lifts, meaning you can have a mulled wine on the Col de la Chal (at 2600m) or even take some freeze frame photos of Mont Blanc from the Aiguille Rouge peak (at 3226m). Some activity companies, such as Evolution 2, host guided snowshoeing around the ski area, providing all the necessary equipment to take you far away from the beaten track. Snowshoes are also available to hire from many of the local ski shops.

Les Arc 1800 has an activity area comprising of aquatic centre, toboggan runs and fun trail. Les Arc 1950 is a pretty car free village with excellent restaurants, bars, shops and excellent spa facilities. Many of the centers feature swimming pools, steam rooms, Jacuzzis and saunas to help you unwind and enjoy a truly relaxing holiday. A full day’s access to La Piscine in the Mille 8 complex (which includes amazing unlimited herbal teas) is only €15.
