Dear Snowcat,
I hope you are well given the challenges of recent months. It’s nice to see some normality finally begin to return to our lives.
As per the below announcement of our Snowcats 2020/21 Winter Season Programme, we are booked to holiday to St Anton in December 2020, and Ischgl in March 2021.
We have been contacted by Ski Total and Inghams, who are both part of the Hotel Plan group. In response to the severe impact COVID-19 is having across the travel sector, the Hotel Plan group is reducing its winter programme by approx 40%. As such, unfortunately our December 2020 trip to St Anton and March 2021 trip to Ischgl are both cancelled with immediate effect.
We have endured cancelled holidays, chalets being sold etc over the years and have always endeavoured to find an alternative for us all. Given how deep into the summer we are however, we are now too late to secure any sole occupancy accommodation. This, coupled with a palpable nervousness across the travel sector and lingering general uncertainty over international travel, we feel the best option is to allow these two holidays to drop off the Snowcats 2020/21 calendar and look forward to a full season come 2021/22. We hope you understand and support this.
Meanwhile, our Tignes bookings for January 2021 (full details sent to you below on 19th Feb) are going well with some 61/95 places already booked. With the cancellation of the December 2020 and March 2021 trips we would invite all those who were booked on these cancelled trips to now join Tignes as this will be the ONLY Snowcats holiday next season.
For those who were booked on either/both of the cancelled holidays, please respond to me with your preferred approach from the following three options.
I have been given a full refund for deposit monies paid to date which I would propose to route back to you in one of the following ways;
- For those of you who are also booked on the Tignes trip I would propose to allocate your St Anton and/or Ischgl £200 deposits to your main balance which is due for payment to me by 1st Oct.
- For those of you not currently booked on the Tignes trip I would invite you to join the holiday and have your deposit(s) transferred across.
- If you would not like to take up Options 1 or 2, then you are of course entitled to receive your deposit money back. In which case please email me your bank details and I will BACS transfer your deposit monies back to you. NB – I will likely have circa 40-50 individual BACS transactions to set up on my internet banking which is a significant admin chore so please be patient, I’m super busy at work just now so need to fit the Snowcats around this.
Sorry for the bad news everybody, I’m afraid the COVID-19 impacts are far reaching. Let’s hope the winter holiday sector is back on a more even keel for the 2021/22 season.
We look forward to welcoming you all onto the Tignes trip in January next year.
All the best to you all for the Summer ahead in the meantime.
Best regards
Mike
